Issues with Detonator 21.81s

First off, relevant information about my system :

CPU: AMD Tbird-1200
Mobo: Abit KT7-RAID (raid controller disabled) (VIA KT133 northbridge)
Gfx: Hercules Prophet II (GeForce2 GTS with 32M RAM)
RAM: 640M CAS2 PC133
OS: Win98SE
VIA drivers are the new 433vs.
(Fast writes are disabled in the bios)

The new Detonators act like electronic amphetamines on my rig - the up is great, but the crash and burn is killer. When I run 3dmark2k1, I get 20+fps more than I did with det 12.90s, but it always dies after the second fill rate test complaining about being out of memory, and then won't run any more 3d apps until a reboot happens.

I've tried removing the dets, going to standard vga, and reinstalling them - no joy.
Upgrading the via drivers didn't help either.
Any advice? I'd appreciate it, as being able to have this kind of performance boost all the time would kick ass.

Try setting the memory allocation for the DirectX and OpenGL drivers PCI texturing to zero.

Have you tried VIA 4-in-1 driver set V4.33 (latest)? I was having problems with MSI GeForce MX400 VIVO when I updated to nVidia v21.81 and V4.33 solved it.

There is already an extensive thread opened to report all Det 4 issues, I would post this info there. Keeping it to one thread will help ppl solve the probs.

Okay, you're not going to believe this...
My 640M of RAM is spread over 3 sticks, 2 256s and 1 128.
I came across an article on MSKB about instability in win9x with more than 512M of RAM, and decided (what the hell) to pull the 128 stick and see what happens.
3dmark now works perfectly, especially after I changed the aperture size down to 64M.
Weird, huh?
