Issues with Dell 2405FPW

I just got my 2405FPW in the mail from Dell today. I hooked it up and ran a couple games through it ad it was running fine. But, now I cant get the monitor to show anything. Ill turn on the computer and and I can hear it get into windows because the windows music plays through my speakers, but the screen stays blank. When I push the menu button on the monitor, it says that the monitor is in power save mode and that I need to push any button on the key board for it to turn on, but when I press a key, nothing happens.

Also, the computer wont recognize it as a Dell monitor, its still labeled as a generic plug and play monitor, even after I installed everything on the dell cd. Any ideas as to whats going on? THanks.

Might just be a defective monitor Dell sent to you. Just talk it over with a Dell customer representative and I am sure you can return it for a new one.

Well I think I fixed the power save mode problem. i reinstalled all my drivers for ym card and monitor and I it seems to be working now. But my computer is still seeing it as a plug and play monitor and not a dell. Should I be worried about this? Does it really matter if the comp doesnt identify it for what it is so long as it works?

It shouldn't really matter, but you'll probably need to manually change the driver and point it to the dell one to make it say the model.

The only issue I see with that is that it might be not report the correct refresh rates for different resolutions.
