Issues with BIOS

ComputerIssues

Hi im a new user here, and im not really good with all this tech stuff! Im having issues with my laptop at the moment as it wouldnt boot past a blue screen, so i went in to BIOS and disabled UEFI and Secure Boot and enables "cmos" i think it was so i could boot of a CD, i did this to check for hard drive errors with the CD so it turns out theres a problem with my hard drive and im going to a shop to get it sorted but i need some help
I dont know how to re enable the UEFI and Secure Boot, without the cd in when i boot the laptop it comes up with a boot menu which shows 2 options
"SATA: HDD::HITACHI HTS547575A9E384" and "SATA CD:: TSSTcorp CDDUQ SN 208BB"
there's no option to get in to the bios settings and go back to UEFI, ive tried pressing delete, f10, f2, f11, f12, like all the buttons upon start up and nothing is working!
Does anyone have an idea of how to re enable UEFI and secure boot, please could you explain it simply because like i said I'm really not a pro at this stuff, thank you

Welcome to the forum 🙂

Did you try and google the make and model of your laptop for the correct key to push on bootup to enter the uEFI?

Hi i did, its a samsung notebook series 3, but none of the keys ive found are working, i think my hard drive isnt connected, like its not being detected, and i presume thats why the computer wasnt booting in the first place, like maybe a connection is loose? So im not sure if maybe thats why i cant do it? even though i could access the bios in the first place to disable the uefi and secure boot?

Do you remember which keystroke let you in in the first place? F2? F10? ESC?

Maybe power down the laptop, unplug cord if attached, remove battery, push power button for a little bit to discharge it. Put battery back in and try booting up and pressing the F2 or whatever key it was to see if you can get back in.

im pretty sure i pressed f10, but now when i try that it just goes to the options which i listed above, the HHD and CD options, i will try that though and ill let you know 🙂

...so i went in to BIOS and disabled UEFI and Secure Boot and enables "cmos" i think it was so ....

There is probably an order you are missing here. You most likely have to enable one before you have the option to enable the others. If you can't remember the order, shouldn't take too long to figure out which one of the three it is.
