Issues with an MSI K8N Neo Platinum 754

Hey guys, I recently bought a used MSI K8N Neo Platinum for my sister's computer, since her Epox up and died one day. I've been having some issues with it, that maybe a few of you are familiar with and might know of some suggestions or fixes.

The first is that the system will not let me boot into Windows XP setup off the HDD once setup files are copied from CD if the hard drive's access mode is set to AUTO. If I set it to large, and redo the installation process, it will boot into setup and install Windows. She has a Maxtor 5400RPM 80GB HDD. This doesn't worry me so much.

What has been bothering me is that once we get the computer set up and running, and go online via 802.11g, Firefox/IE will crash all the time, and sometimes the system will reboot. It will only do this if we're browsing the web. Now, you may immediately think "bad wireless card!", but we've replaced the card twice.

First card was a D-link 802.11b, the second a Belkin 802.11g, and the third a Linksys 802.11g. We also tried replacing the HDD. Then we RMA'd the board and got in an exchange which exhibits the SAME EXACT behaviors!

Now, I never received a manual with the board we bought, but the online manual claims that the red PCI slot is a communications slot for networking. Currently I've got the wireless card in a regular PCI slot and not that "dedicated" one. Could this be causing the issue?
 
Meh, tried putting it in the comm slot and no go. Took out the card and hard wired it to the cable modem, and still same problems.
 
None of the nV skt754 boards I've used have had those problems. Have you tried another bios? Disabled auto restart and checked the log?
 
I didn't get the chance to flash to a later BIOS, but I did figure out that my second issue was being caused by the first issue.

Setting the access mode of that 80GB Maxtor to large sets parameters for the drive that are not correct. I was googling this issue and found something on another forums that mentioned this exact problem, and he set his mode to LBA. I did the same, formatted, and reinstalled windows. After I got internet access up and running, the system has been running smoothly for two days now.

So, if you ever come across a system you're trying to install Windows on and it claims "No Operating System Found" after you've copied the windows setup files to your hard drive and try to boot to Windows setup, you may have to manually specify your drive's access mode (I believe it's LBA for <128GB drives, and Large for >128GB drives).
