Issues with A7N8X-X and Corsair XMS PC3200LLPT memory.

I was trying to get my Corsair XMS PC3200LLPT to run at it's correct timings (2-3-2-7) only every time I do my motherboard (Asus A7N8X-X) crashes and resets itself. :( I tried bumping the VDimm to 2.7v but then I get a CMOS Checksum Error and the system freezes.

I'm also having some problems in Windows although I think there may be an incompatibility between SETI@Home and DiskeeperPro8 which I am investigating. Since it really has problems when both of those programs are running. Prime95 is running in the background to stress test and SETI and Diskeeper are turned off.

Anyone have any help to offer?

So I set it to Performance Mode and it's running fine but I would like to know what this does.

It does when you know how to read your motherboard's manual. Switch to expert and set the timings to whatever you'd like.

The memory timings are 2-3-2-7 oddly enough. And why should I set my Active Precharge Delay to 11?

i think because that has been found to be the optimal setting for nforce2 mobos. i'm sure someone will correct me if i'm wrong.

my suggestion to you, porbleemo, is that you go to the Official Corsair Memory Support Forum, and see if you can get an answer there. chances are that RAMGUY will tell you exactly what you should try for you memory version and motherboard, have you run memtest86, and if the memory does not work at the proper voltage and timings, you will be able to RMA it.

It passed several hours of running MemTest86 and the Microsoft Memory Tester with no errors. The only system instability problem right now is that the InterstateA16 mod for BF1942 keeps crashing but I think that's a software bug.
