Thanks first of all for your attention . . . my recently built system with 2 X dual display each (running four monitor) doing strange stuff. So far I have spoken to Tech support from Gigabyte, Nvidia, Sapphire, and others - everyone has a different openion and everyone seems to be confident that he/she is right.
Origianlly I had a nvidia 7100 card in the PCIe slot, and a Radeon 7000 in one of the PCI slot (Both dual display each). I just could not get them both to work at the same time. If I removed one the other would work, as soon as I add the second card and install the driver the first one would not work. Funny thing is both drivers look fine in device manager - no confilect and all. But when I go to display properties and try to select the monitor using the second card I would get error messege saying the driver was written for an older virsion of XP (it is not - both driver is uptodate and the last version). Then the 2 monitors would just dissappear from display properties leaving only the ones from the last card installed. If I reboot then all 4 comes back in the display properties but then as soon as I try to select and activate a monitor from the first card installed I get the same messege and then monitors dissappear.
After talking to several Tech guys from both vendor and hering "Can't use PCI and PCIe at the same time for graphics". . . .another one goes "PCI and PCIe at the same time is fine but you must use 2 cards with same chipset so they use the same driver" . . . etc. I decided to go with the second one . . . and replaced the nvidia 7100 PCIe card with a Radeon PCIe card - did not have to install driver since they both use the catalyst driver. Now they are working both at the same time - I can activate screen change res and everything fine but . . . . .
1 out of three reboot of XP - XP loads and then just before the logon screen all screens are blank and nothing happens . If I power off and restart it loads fine. Also I noticed after windows signon screen - I get that beep (Like when XP detects a new hardware) - then all screens dark for second then everything fine. One more thing, in the bios there is a setting called "Initialize first graphic . . ." PCI or PEG ???? What is PEG? Where should that be set????
Thanks . . . I am sorry for the long asss post but just wanted to give you guys all the info right at the begining.
This is not everyone's cup of tea but I know someone must have faced this same situation in the past and knows exactly what I have to do ???? Please advise . . . .
