Issues streaming to Xbox 360

'm trying to stream both 720p and 1080p content to my 360. When trying to stream something, like the Tron Legacy trailer, the video stops every 30-60 seconds before starting again. I'm running a wired, gigabit network, and I'm running Windows 2000 (service pack 1) and have a p4 3.0 gig with 2 gigs of RAM, and am using the on-board NIC for an Asus P4c800 deluxe motherboard. I haven't had any issues streaming to my PS3, and I want both of them to stream well. I'm using PS3 media server to stream the content.

Can anyone offer any advice on what I can do to improved streaming, without being stuck at 480i/480p resolutions?

Right now Quick-time files, though I plan to start ripping my blu-rays and DVD collection early next year; but right now the 360 is choking on HD content, which the PS3 handles with ease. I'm beginning to come to the conclusion it might be an inherent issue with the 360 design. It kept "pausing" during Netflix playback as well, even though I wasn't using the Internet connection for anything else while watching movies.

Could be heat too.

Part of it could easily be that the 360 has a 100mbit nic and the PS3 has gigabit. That said, anything you can throw at either should work great, 12.5MB/sec is a lot of bandwidth. I'd blame it on the software you're using to stream to the 360. Try Playon or Tversity and report back. I'm curious because I'm trying to decide to get a 360 or PS3 for my HT (I have a samsung pn50b650).

Add files to WMP and share media to Xbox360. Works fine for me with Quicktime 1080p files over a 10/100 network.
