Hi you're using the same hardware as before?
Oc'ed?
Tweaked something?
Cd is still ok (no scratches)?
Maybe a corrupted filesystem. Did a scandisk/checkdisk etc?
Done a virus check?

Looked at the master/slave setting of your cdrom and writer?

Are you doing upgrade or clean install?
If you are installing over an old install, I would suggest formatting and starting from scratch.
Otherwise, it sounds like you may have a corrupt disc, I believe Microsoft will replace it , if it's registered.

No not necessarily..It can load successfully without fixing bad sectors. My Ibm drive had bad sectors and failed twice while installing...third time it worked. Eventually though it started having problems when it would eventually try to write to those sectors and would get stuck in a continuous loop and would not clear up. I had to run a disk fitness test that found the bad sectors and erased the disk and reinstall again.....
