Weird one here. I'm working on a laptop for someone, toshiba m55-s3314, and the onboard LAN isn't working. Its enabled in the BIOS, and enabled in the Toshiba Windows hardware config utility but it doesn't show up. What's really strange is the link and activity lights on the jack are on solid regardless of if there's an ethernet cable plugged in. It's not the end of the world that its not working, but I'd like to figure this one out. I've updated to the latest BIOS and that made no change. I'm holding off tearing apart the system, last resort on that. Any ideas or has anyone run into this before?

sounds like mild water damage or dampness issue
otherwise ethernet ic which sits right behind the connection is faulty or loose

try another ethernet cable first and reset all broadband devices

in the run command run cmd then type in ipconfig/all then put here info please

also check connection area for dirt

start>run>cmd>ipconigf/all.........
