Issue with server and 6 SATA HDs

This server has been experiencing stability issues, apparently from loss of power to components. The latest issue is constant RAID rebuilding, due to the power being dropped to 1 of the drives in a mirror set.

I called Seasonic to see if it was an issue, and the tech explained that the M12 700 would be a better choice. Looking at the specs, though, there seems to only be about a 4A difference in one of the rails, and the 5v rail is the same output.

Before I make another mistake, are there any recommendations for a power supply for this setup (I'd rather have too much, than too little)

Gigabyte P965 (DQ6)
2GB memory
Core2 6600
DVD burner
6 Seagate ST3320620AS 320 GB SATA HDs
(2 in RAID 1, 3 in a RAID 5, 1 in an iStarUSA tray for backup (gets swapped every night), tray has a 40mm fan in front)
Basic ATI video card (no auxiliary connectors)
Stock HSF
120MM rear vent fan (Artic Cooling, slow moving)
Running Windows 2003 Standard 32-bit

Thanks!

That doesn't sound right to me.
Your server probably uses quite a bit less than 400 watts even under peak load.

I agree. I run an X2 4200+ (89W instead of 65W), a 6800GS, 4 hard drives (although not in RAID) with lots more fans and whatnot and I have no issues running on a 520W power supply. I could probably run it all on a 400W if I wanted to...IMO something else is wrong with your build. I'm thinking either the hard drives are getting bad sectors or the motherboard is causing data corruption.

That doesn't sound quite right.. I'm running 5 SATA hard drives on a 380W in an overclocked system and I'm not experiencing any power loss to the drives. Are you sure you don't have any power saving features active that turn off hard drives? Or maybe the PSU could be faulty..

I remember having issues like this, except with a Enermax PSU.

That PSU should be able to handle the load (I have a E6400 @ 100% load 24/7, 8 hard drives, RAID controller and 8800 GTS plus fans running on a Seasonic HX620.

Do you have an UPS (battery backup) on the system? Regulating the power to the PSU seemed to fix my issues with RAID. Also, it oculd be a possibility that you have a faulty PSU--it happens.
