Issue with SATA power connector ahh!!

Hey guys. I just upgraded my PSU on my Dell XPS 8300. Sadly when I removed the power connector to the hdd part of the connector's plastic fused to the connector so none of the power plugs on the new psu will fit the hdd. The only way I can get it to work is to stick something under it and get the fit at a certain angle in order for the hdd to power on.

Obviously this isn't a long term solution. What can I do to fix this??

1. Tweezers to remove the offending plastic?

2. Get a replacement HDD and copy everything to it?

Maybe not in that order?

Find same hard drive but used on ebay. make sure model number is exactly the same.

Now unscrew the controller board of both and swap them.

Lesson to learn here also is not to use the sata connectors that have metal clips so you must press on them to release.
I had a few that looked fused and or broke off like in the manner you speak of.
