i just upgraded from a leadtek geforce 2 pro to a radeon 8500 the other day. the main game i usually play is cs, and i noticed that cs is SLOWER with the radeon than the geforce. the fps stays at 99 less than the geforce does. its a little slower. i really don't think this is right, seeing how the 8500 should compare with the ti200 or 500. i have verson 7206 drivers for win 98, and my 3dmark scores seem to be fine for my system, about 7600. if anyone know what might be the problem i would greatly appreciate it, thx.

Okay, I didn't quite understand what you said there but the point is, the Half Life engine maxes out at 99 fps anyway. You're not gonna get more than that nor do you need to.

You didn't clearly state your fps numbers with the Radeon and the GF card. What are they like?

woops, what i meant to say is, both cards are constantly at 99fps, BUT, the radeon seems to be less constant, it drops below 99 a lot more than the geforce did.

I sure would'nt sweat a little under 99fps!! Also are you playing in D3D or OpenGL? If you are playing CS in D3D, here, let me slap your face.:Q

CS has support for that new feature on 8500's too, right? Truform or whatever it's called. Haven't read too much on it yet, but that could be causing a large performance hit.

i kno the 8500 has new features, but even with them on, it should be faster than the gefoce. the fps isn't just dropping a little, its dropping from 99 to 60 and sometimes even 30-40. i don't know whats wrong, and its bugging me. anyone know?

if you turned off the net_graph woud you know if it was slower? I'd double check to see that there are no residual drivers or tweaks for the Geforce card and you could always try another set of drivers for the 8500 because it might just be that particular set doesnt like your system.

this is from a fresh format and reinstall of win98...before i formatted, i was thinking it might be from the leftover drivers, but i have, and cs is still slow....this is torture, cs is the main game i play :disgust:
