I re-installed Office 2003 on my laptop the other day after a nice format of the drive and I ran into a problem.

I did some research on getting Hotmail into Outlook and MS had this download where it would connect to Hotmail and download the folders and mail right into Outlook. I had a crapload of mail and folders on the server and it was going to take a while.

I let the notebook sit while it was downloading everything. I went back to the notebook and apparently I must have lost my internet connection and only about 70% of the stuff downloaded. I clicked on the get mail tab again and nothing happened. I was just going to delete the account and do it again when I started to get a ton of error messages.

I could not send or receive any mail and I could not go into the edit account settings. I would just get an error message saying to reinstall Office. So that is just what I did.....re-installed it and when I would go back into Outlook all of my settings were still in there and I could not delete the accounts and start over.

Is there a way that I can delete all of the user information so that I can try it again??

you would have to create a new profile, goto control panel -> mail. There click show profiles and delete your old one and the make a new one. that should fix you up

A new profile as in you mean a new user account in Vista?

If you are talking about going into the options tab and view/edit account every time I click on it I get an error message.

No there should be a mail icon of some sort under control panel. I dunno what it is called on Vista.

Sorry was assuming xp for some reason. It is called Mail in vista as well, probably easier if you switch from the category view to classic view. don't have a vista machine right in front of me at the moment

That should do it. just uniinstall outlook, delete the profile, then reinstall outlook, you'll get prompted to creat a new profile then.

I had a user that needed hotmail in his outlook. the hotmail connector installed easyand worked fine, but a week later he was having problems accessing the accounts. He was out of the office and there was little icoould do to assist him. a few days later everything worked fine again, so i;m guessing he had a problem with his internet connection (a call card for his laptop)
