Issue with nVidia's new driver

I installed the new 81.85 drivers, and all seems to work fine, but when I access the nVidia settings (either through the icon near the clock, or on the desk top right click-> Nvidia Display...) the screen's brightness drops to zero...
This is not a huge problem, since I can fix it manually, but still its an annoyance.
I have A64 with 6600GT (gigabyte), and a friend of mine which has similar settings (MSI gpu though) has the same problem...
Anyone here tackled it allready?
