Issue with EPOX 8k7a+ MB -- Need to get my data!

Hopefully you guys can help me with this problem.
I have a dual-boot system set up on a EPOX 8K7A+ motherboard. My windows drive is set up on the RAID (HPT372 on-board chip) and Linux is on a separate drive. The boot record is on the Linux drive.
The system will no longer boot and I need to get the data off of the RAID drive (striping, which I will never do again).
Is there a separate RAID card I can obtain which will allow me to read the drives in another system, or perhaps a software emulation solution?
Have any of you ever had a similar problem, and can provide me with some suggestions on how best to go about resolving it?

Any and all feedback is welcome and appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help!

My (limited) experience with low-end RAID chips is that they store RAID information right at the end of the hard disks themselves. Therefore, any other compatible RAID card can pick up the RAID set.

Get a PCI RAID card with HPT372 chipset. They're typically sold under the RocketRAID name. Since the chip will be identical to the one that created your RAID array, it will pick up the RAID info from the hard drives, and your data will be accessible.

Also, most motherboard with ATA RAID have either Highpoint, Promise or ITE chips. Abit and Epox boards typically have HPT370 and HPT372, so look for one of those boards.

Never heard of issues with bad caps on the 8K7A+, the 8RDA+ is another story.
No problem running RAID 0, just be sure you have a good storage drive to backup your data on a regular basis. I used to run RAID 0 all the time, but I switched to larger drives and RAID 1 for security reason. Also saving to get a good external drive for backup, so no worries about losing important data.
Your boot problem may not be the motherboard though, and a problem with one of the disks or something else. Odeen is right, find a pci card or another board with the hpt370 or 372 should help get the info if the board is the culprit. Once you are up and running again, do yourself a favor and get a nice big storage drive.

Let me be honest and upfront with you......

If you cant access your information and you had a raid setup......

Most likely you are screwed!

Most raid setups divide the information between both harddrives!

Unless you have a raid mirrored system then both hard drives have the same info...thus they are called mirrored..lol

I have re-caped a few of these boards, so it is possible failure to bad caps.

The caps don't look to good on the board. Can you guys tell me where to buy all the correct caps for the board?
Thanks!
