Ok here is an issue that has managed to stump me and hoping someone can provide me some input here.
Here is what is going on. Initial report was that battery was not holding a charge. Replaced battery with new one and system displays following problem. You can boot fine with a power supply attached but if you charge the battery the battery will charge normally from 0 to about 37-40% then jumps to 100%. This is observable at the BIOS battery health screen. If you remove power at this point the battery will discharge to 0 in about 2 min.
At this point the system board was replaced assuming a problem with the charging subsystem. However we continue to have the same issue. We replaced the battery with another new one and it displays the same issue.
So I am trying to figure out what else, if anything can cause a problem with the charging system. About the only thing not replaced at this point is the screen, cpu and hard drive. Begining to wonder if we just ended up with 2 defective batteries within 2-3 weeks of each other.
