Hey guys!

I just put the setup in my sig together about 3 days ago. The 7950 should be good enough to run the games that I play on max settings.

Here are the games that I am running right now on max settings:

Left 4 Dead 1 & 2
Counter Strike: Source
Counter Strike: Global Offensive
The Sims 3
All Points Bulletin
Just Cause 2 (Just Cause it was on sale for $3.74)
Call of Duty: Black Cops
Call of Duty: Modern Snorefare 3
Payday: The Heist

So what is happening, is I will run these games and there is a chance (like last night) that the computer will just shut off whilst playing it. I know that this is typically either an overheating issue with the CPU or something with the PSU. I don't think that my system is even coming close to maxing the 650W because the fan on the PSU doesnt turn on at all (its designed to run the fans under heavy load). The 7950's fan is set to auto and even though it works hard, the fan never goes about 50%.

Anyway, when the computer turns off...sometimes, I can turn it back on and just load back into windows. But, right now, it is doing this thing where the video card and my keyboard (Razer Lycosa) won't boot (?) with the computer...

I am going to reapply the AS5 to the CPU and try to re-seat the H80, which I think may be the problem. The temps on my CPU (idle is around 40-50...load is about (70+) go up a lot when I am playing games and I havent even overclocked the thing. Its at stock. I don't understand the temps on the Heatsink. I have reinstalled the H80 a few times and have checked the paste and it spread like it was supposed to. Maybe I should let the TIM "break in"...but that means I have to run games in lower settings in the meantime.

*frustrated*

Please, help. I don't want to RMA the PSU if that isnt whats wrong. I also want to note that Newegg said the 7950 needed a minimum 500W PSU but the manual for the GPU says 600W. Also, this PSU was on the recommended list for the GPU so I picked it up since it was $49.00 after rebate.

Did you try running Prime95? Run that and see what happens. I built a similar system with the same power supply and thought everything was working fine until I ran Prime95. It would freeze or restart barely seconds after hitting run. Turns out my memory wasn't getting quite enough juice. Bumped it up a tiny bit and it was stable during P95 after that.

Your temps might be a touch high but I doubt that's the issue. My 3570k with a Hyper 212 Evo Idles in the 30s for all cores and stays under 60 in Skyrim and under 70 during P95.

I have Prime95, Im just not sure what it does. When I start up my computer, it starts running some weird processes that I don't understand saying its trying to find a prime or something...doh!

Can you tell me how to use it? Also, what did you mean by give your Ram more juice? Im using the XMP profile on it, should I be doing something else? The voltage is 1.5. Timings are 9-9-9-24 1600

You are chasing a red herring, I'm afraid.

I would put PSU very low on the list of culprits in your case. Check the video card and RAM first.

The TX650, yes. The newest run of TX650 V2, no. The V2 fan will only run when either the power supply temperature or load reach a certain level.
