Issue with computer not connecting to the internet.

It's an issue this laptop has had before. I usually think it's some spyware and I run Malware bytes and stuff and I usually just go to IE and FF and go to network settings and and i find that the proxy settings has been turned on some how so i change it back to no proxy.

But this time all that stuff hasn't been changed, the laptop isn't even able to even ping google from the command line.

I'm lost as to what the issue is. It's not a problem with the actually connection. It's the laptop. Doesn't work on a wired connection either.

I can't ping or browse websites.

I type netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt in administrative mode of command line and it says this
Reseting echo request, failed
Access is denied.

Reseting global, OK!
Reseting interface, OK!

A reboot is required.

I reboot it, nothing is fixed.
I can't even find that resetlog in my c folder.


I've also gone to the services.msc folder and i found that the DHCP and winhttp web proxy auto discovery services have been turned off and I can't start them back up. It just says "error 1068: dependency service or group failed to start"

The error it says when I try to start DHCP client services is "Error 1075: The dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion."

I'm lost to what to do next.

Right there is the problem, it is not obtaining a valid IP address via DHCP. That is an APIPA address assigned when a computer is configured to automatically obtain an IP via DHCP, but the process failed.

The address pool maybe exhausted or other DHCP configuration problems.

At a command prompt type in.
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
If it still won't obtain something starting with 192.168.1.xxx (based on the DNS address you listed) then the pool may be exhausted.

If still no joy:
Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults, type: netsh int ip reset reset.log

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults, type: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reboot the machine.

Have you tried entering a valid static IP address to see if that works? What is the OS?

It.. it works now.

I had tried the ipconfig release stuff as well as the TCP and winsock reset when the issue first occurred. As well as trying a static IP address. They didn't work.

I think the issue was the services stuff. DHCP client service was not turning on. I did some stuff in the registry and now... it works.
I really have no idea what fix I did that made it work.

I changed some registry stuff from different fixes I heard while googling the issue, but it didn't seem like it worked. Well, I had to go somewhere else and I took the laptop with me and i was trying to fix it there and bam. The internet works now. And this was the same place where the issue originated so it's not as if going to a different network was the issue.

I look in the services.msc page and DHCP is running fine now.
