Issue with a CQ56 Laptop. Keyboard acting funny

So I was given a CQ56 laptop. It was a partial payment (~$60) for a job done on another laptop for a customer. I took it because it powered on, had a working hard drive, windows 7 ultimate, flawless LCD, only physical damage was a keyboard missing about 15 keys. Regardless, I took it to part out if need be.

Long story short, I fry my own HP dv2000. Spilled liquid on the desk that it was sitting on and water went under and fried something. Giving me some graphic cable is unplugged error. So I resort to the CQ56 to save me. Well I order a cheapy keyboard on ebay. When I go to install the keyboard, it seems as though there might have been a spill on the CQ. I'm not 100% sure as the one spot that was suspect seemed more like adhesive than a cola or something of that nature.

So new keyboard is in and I boot up. Laptop boots and loads no problem. Mouse works fine, screen looks good, hard drive and ram are all operating just fine. I hear the little error ding from windows. Click the windows button, and it enters repeating L's in the search box.

Then I go to enter my network key for the wireless and some of the keys wont work. Some letters work fine, some dont work at all, and some will enter repeating "L"s.

I'm thinking I got a defective keyboard. Doesnt seem like a main board issue......or am I just trying to convince myself otherwise?

Put the old one back in and see if you get the same symptoms.

This. I bet it's defective. I just got two bad keyboards new direct from Dell enterprise for our Latitude 2120's that were bad. Other 12 worked though.

It was the keyboard. Got a new o e and it worked fine.

Couldn't test the old one because my efficient soon to be wife had it in the trash. Then threw out old marinara right after
