Hey guys just put my new rig together about two months ago and now it's having issues... first and foremost here are the specs.

Cpu- intel i7 4790k
Gpu- Msi gtx 970
Hdd- Samsung 250gb ssd
Wd 2tb black hdd
24GB ddr3 ram
Asus maximus hero vii mobo
Corsair cx750 psu

Here's the problem. I went to bed last night after playing a game and let the computer go to sleep. On waking it this morning it restored my session into windows then the computer shut off. I tried turning it back on and there was no display and the debug less read 00, I also noticed a few case fans were not working. I turned off the psu switch and tried a reboot. It gets to bios then will not boot but the case fans started working. The debug codes are =power on, about 4-7 really quick codes then a2 for about ten sec during the bios splash then ae when I'm in bios. if I reset out of bios it will just give me a set of three flashing cursors then put me back in bios. It will boot off the windows install disc where I can reinstall windows on to my ssd (where it is) or my hdd. I'm thinking my ssd died but I'm not sure why my computer is still detecting it.. any ideas?

It's probably not dead, but the MBR may be corrupt. I would try a repair from the Windows install disc.

Thanks, I wasn't able to repair it for some reason but I re installed Windows and it seems to be working fine... just confused as to why it lost boot information... it had 75gb of free space so it wasn't full by any means And it's only been running for 2 months and I haven't had a bsod or anything that would make me think I'm infected. Is this common with ssd's?

The file system on my main system's SSD with a recent install of Windows 7 needed fixing for some reason too. Also the registry was corrupted recently on my HTPC's SSD after a failed Media Center update. I'm not pointing fingers, but I wanted you to know that you're not alone. Both systems showed no problems before their issues.

hmm Im beginning to think I have a motherboard or chip-set issue here? after reinstalling everything it all seemed to work fine. it had me reboot after installing the windows SSD driver and after the reboot I had no USB devices.. so I shut the PC down using a single press of the power button and turned it back on and usb ports powered up and I had a keyboard and mouse again. I was going to link my 2 TB hDD to my steam account so I didn't lose all my data and for some reason windows wasnt showing my 2tb HDD?? I booted into bios and it didnt show a HDD either, just my 1tb external and my 240gb SSD. I was thinking this was due to driver conflict since I didnt reformat before I installed windows again so I reformatted the SSD and upon windows installation options my 2tb HDD was sitting there like normal. I went ahead and reinstalled windows onto my newly formatted SSD and after the install before I installed any drivers other than my display,LAN and sound drivers I verified windows still showed I had a 2tb D drive. I installed the rest of the main drivers for the motherboard ( SATA driver, intel chipset, etc.) and after several reboots all the drivers were installed and I still had working USB ports. I started installing the optional software ( ASUS AI suite ) and after it rebooted from installing that I had no USB ports again, also after that startup I had a pop up in the lower right hand corner telling me windows had installed the driver for the SSD. after again turning off the computer and turning it back on I have USB ports but again I am missing my D drive... I have updated my SATA driver thinking maybe the SSD driver wasn't compatible but two months ago when I installed everything I had no issues at all... not sure whats going on now.. any ideas?

So is device manager now showing all pieces/drivers installed?

yes the device manager shows everything and it doesn't show any issues. after spending about 5 hrs on it last night I finally got it to run stable and show my other HDD but its still having the USB issue but only when it restarts, if I shut it down then start it up the USB ports power up. the short version of what I did last night is this: I had to reset my mobo's CMOS in order to find the 2tb HDD again although the whole time if I tried to install windows it showed that as a possible drive to install on. I tried installing windows on the HDD and using the SSD as a regular drive and after installing all my drivers the computer bogged down to a standstill and the HDD light would not shut off, after about 20 mins I reformatted and swapped SATA ports just to make sure that wasn't an issue, and after reinstalling windows and the drivers the same thing happened. I noticed that time though that my computer was running fin through multiple restarts while the drivers installed and it wasn't until the reboot after installing intels rapid storage that my computer had an issue so I reformatted one more time and installed all drivers except intels rapid storage driver. I am now using my SSD as the boot drive and my 2tb as the main storage drive and all is working with the exception of the USB issue. Im not sure if this is a hardware issue of the SSD being bad since thats kinda what started this whole ordeal, of if the mobo is having issues with its hardware controller. or if its a driver issue though I tend to shy away from that as I had no problem installing drivers and running everything a few months ago when I built this computer. Any helf from you guys on this would be much appreciated. if I have the time friday I may install windows on my 2tb HDD and unplug the SSD to see if that makes a difference.
