Israeli tanks flatten homes in Gaza

i just cannot understand why. sometimes there is a logic or some underlying tactical reason
that may not be obvious to those standing on the outside. but however i've looked at this
there does not seem to be much of a mature understanding on isreal's part to justify these
actions.

this same policy has not stemmed palestinian terrorist attacks against military and civilian targets,
yet one isreali regime after another, whether dovish or hawk, continue to resort to these assinine
measures.

collective punishment is humiliating and exacerbates the hatreds felt by the average palestinian
for all things isreali. sharon needs the average palestinian man and woman to support the
peace process, but how can they be expected to do that when they are standing in the
rubble of their homes just destroyed by government bulldozers.

i'm in palestinian-isreali mode myself - venting to spite myself ;) although i'd like to understand.
new thinking, new blood is needed for both sides. as effectual as sharon may be in squishing
the terrorists now, assuming he rides this american tide to the hilt, isreali policies need greater
precision and an infusion of different perspectives may be the only cure.

the palestinians did sign a number of peace accords (oslo, wye river, etc.) that restricted the amount and type of
weapon they could legally procure (from isreal herself, in fact) and with additional restrictions on the size of
their police force - all of which they've violated. the have a de facto standing army of 40,000 and the so-called
extemists number an additional 2000. these are forces under the right - and none too inconceivable conditions -
could be consolidated. the weapons shipment that was recently caught was just the latest violation in a long,
long, very long line of them.

anyway, that wasn't the point of the original post. but hey i am still in a palestinian-isreali frame of mind, so
crap away :D

Do you really see an end to it? I mean let's be honest. The only way it will end is: 1)The Palestinians and surronding Arabs numbering in the tens of millions, are wiped out, or 2) Israel is wiped out.

This will go on for many many years and there is nothing anyone can really do about it. EXCEPT the people living there. The Palestinians must make a concerted effort to stop pissing off the Israelis and until then Israel is going to keep on keeping on. Israel has a right to be there whether you agree or not that's beside the point, they ARE there. They have been fighting since what? 1948? When the new nation of Israel was born. It ain't gonna stop until one of the two things I mention happen.

probably, possibly, likely . . . yes :D

the various accords provide an annual legal quota of weapons purchases for the palestinians from the
isreali government and probably private isreali manufacturers too. isreal insures both the source, amount,
type, and quality of weapons.

the palestinians though have been making a number of clandestine purchases and have been the recipients
of charitable contributions from a number of sympathizing terrorist promoting states and rogue entities, like iran
most recently.

Would you blame them ? If you had Israelis bombing your cities and tanks crushing your homes along with Israeli settlements slowly pushing into your so-called territory all the while Isreal milatants were burning you farms and olive trees. Geez I don't understand why this country feels that we somehow owe Israel something. It's obvious that they have no allegiance to the U.S. since they are the biggest thieves of U.S. secrets both industrial and military and their biggest purchaser of said secrets happens to be China and yet we continue to feed these guys billions of dollars in aid money ?? What did we do to them that we must for some reason subsidize their army and economy and help fuel Arab hatred towards us. Not to mention that we had to pressure them into not selling a top of the line spy/radar plane to the Chinese during that whole debacle over American pilots who had their airplane brought down by that dumb ass Chinese fighter pilot.
