Gaza may be a dry / small piece of land but its maritime zone contains rich Natural Gas deposits. That is what is important for USA/Israel Not "Trump Riviera"

The US doesn't need natural gas deposits.

Trump is just being stupid, as described in a video someone posted in another thread. And now rationale people have to spend time speaking out against the utter stupidity of yet another Trump suggestion made off the cuff.

I'm no Israel expert, but I'm not aware that Israel's official state policy is to eliminate Palestine. We should draw a distinction between the Israeli people (many of whom don't support Bibi), and the Zionists/far right. If Bibi falls, perhaps a more sane ruling coalition comes to power.
Over 40,000 Palestinian civilians have been killed by Israel since Oct 7th (let alone the decades preceding). Since WW1, the area that is Palestine keeps getting smaller while Israel keeps getting bigger. How on earth could you define that as anything else other than a clear purpose to eliminate Palestine? How explicitly do you need Israel's objective to be stated? Their leader has an ICC warrant out for their arrest for war crimes including genocide!

Israel's current actions against Palestine are simply an acceleration of the process they began since the UN waved its wand and magic'd the State of Israel into existence. Israel is getting worse, not better. The Israeli people have had many decades to shape Israel's foreign policy, yet here they are.

If the people of Israel were constantly protesting and sabotaging the actions of their government at every turn then I could start (somewhat optimistically) believing that the next Israeli government might advocate mutually peaceful co-existence with Palestine. Until that happens, silent obedience is complicity in the eyes of history.

"Dear World,

You are correct, the only history I have ever studied was what I was forced to at school.

So what do people think, will the prisoner exchange between Israel and Palestine be completed and then Israel gets back to genociding Palestine, or now that Trump has gone back to eating crayons is Israel going to say fuck this and get back to genocide sooner?

I suppose that letting the prisoner exchange complete means that Israel will have fewer Israeli's having the government on their shit list, but I would have thought that if there was a reasonable chance that the government might not win the next election then they would already have adopted a more moderate approach to the conflict.

Click the link if you want to hear from some absolutely delusional Arab for Trump and third party voters who refuse to admit they probably made a disastrous decision.

Ever fucked up so so bad that you just decided that is in fact not what happened?
These are the types of people I want to rub it in their face.

I'm okay temporarily looking the other way for people that realize they fucked up and now might like to try to rectify that, since now is the time for alliances and standing in unity for the Constitution and the country. But the the heads in the sand, refuse to see reality types...

We have so much fucking natural gas we burn it as a waste product.
You don't need to cook with it, you sell it and make money. Maybe it is not worth much in North America but has a good market in Europe and Middle East

We have too much to even sell. Trump was making a big deal about Biden not accepting more LNG liquefaction plants beyond what is in the pipeline already but they literally cannot find any more customers for the off take to justify financing construction.

Anyway from a geopolitical standpoint nobody who can pay for it is going to want to become dependent on US LNG at this point. Same reason the Russians can't convince the Chinese to take more gas.

Europe needs cheap ("Market price") LNG for its industry. As long as Russia is secluded fro the European Market, Middle Eastern Gas via pipelines are very feasible, no matter who owns the wells

You mean the same Europe Trump is about to trade war? Yeah, they signed contracts with the Middle East suppliers. EU takes US cargos too but mostly on the spot market IIRC. Also Russian LNG is making it into the European market but the advantages for Russia are minimal because profitability is much less compared to pipeline gas.

Expanding dependence on natural gas by expanding supply and keeping costs down is also counter productive when you're trying to drive people to renewable energy and cut Russia out of the gas picture.

Yes and the uptake of renewables in Europe is growing rapidly. So much that they are worried all the LNG infra they are building could end up as stranded assets.

Donald Trump Gifted Golden Beeper From Israel's Netanyahu, In Apparent Nod To Attack

President Donald Trump was reportedly gifted two beepers — one regular and one golden — from Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu when the leaders met in Washington, D.C., this week.

The gifts were reportedly “a nod to” Israel’s deadly September 2024 operation in which it exploded hundreds of pagers and other devices used by members of the Iran-backed Hezbollah militant group in Lebanon and Syria, an Israeli official told The Associated Press...

Fair points, and obviously duration matters but that would be like saying 300M Americans are "complicit" because we aren't out in the streets protesting Trump 2.0. It's also extremely dangerous to paint all Israeli citizens as complicit in genocide. As for explicit objectives, maintaining an apartheid state while thieving plum land in the West Bank is far different from expelling Palestinians into other countries.

I'm on record on saying Israel's conduct over the past 15 months alone is absolutely disgusting, to put it mildly. But this topic started when you suggested the U.S. was stealing the Gaza strip from Israel, and that could cause the alliance to splinter. Up until Trump's suggestion, I don't believe Israel has ever built illegal settlements within Gaza. Even the CNN article you linked said Bibi smiled at the presser announcing Trump's idea to steal Gaza from its residents. Perhaps Bibi is a great actor, but I don't see the daylight between Israel and Trump that you suggested.

That was my main point, not whether Israel has committed war crimes.
