Maybe if we didn't piss our money away on completely misdirected and counter-productive wars, and our own people weren't so fvcking fat, we could do something good for the rest of the world. But nevermind that, let's take the SUV to Ryan's Steakhouse!
Israel is the beacon of freedom. We need to support Israel with everything we have, including our most sophisticated weapons systems. We must crush the Palestinian resistance.

As for Israel selling weapons, they already do that. Israel is the size of New Jersey, yet it is the world's fifth biggest arms exporter. More than the French. More than any of the Arab countries put together.
It is our best friend, maybe second to the UK and India. We only have a few decent friends in the world, and we must keep them.

Israel is a tiny country surrounded by mammoth Arab countries, which are hundred times its size. It simply cannot fight on all fronts. Especially against the Egyptians who have been building up their armed forces. Egypt already outnumbers Israel in armor. And it has our latest M1A1 or M1A2 tanks.
If you stopped ALL handouts to these Arab countries, then you'd have a case. But as of right now, no. Israel needs our support to survive.
Remember, Israel cannot just survive solely based on exporting arms. Its economy is doing ok, but it still needs our assistance. You keep saying it is wealthy, but when you take into account how larger these terrorist Arab countries are, Israel doesn't stand a chance without our help.

Those are costs that are being forced upon them.
They could not withdraw and save the extra funds, however, then those that want them to would still complain. They are being put in a no win situation.

They could remove the Palestians from Gaze and just take over the West Bank.
Who would have the ability and determination to stop them. After all the UN and world did nothing in the beginning to help them; why should Isreal sacrifice its security to others political purposes.

Regardless, $2.2 billion to get Israel out of the occupied territories will probably go a lot further than $300+ billion in Iraq to bring some semblance of stability to the Middle East.

There is no indication that the Israelis were involved in the 9-11 attacks, but investigators suspect that they Israelis may have gathered intelligence about the attacks in advance, and not shared it. A highly placed investigator said there are "tie-ins." But when asked for details, he flatly refused to describe them, saying, "evidence linking these Israelis to 9-11 is classified. Secondly: Our politions need to recognize that "Charity Begins at Home" and OUR tax money should be spent here. Health care, education and environmental concerns are under-funded. If I wanna donate to another country I'm perfectly capable of mailing a check myself 😉
