The same reason the US cannot exterminate resistance in Iraq; you cannot really finish off an enemy who uses guerilla warfare.

cause we dont have 100,000 eyes watching over a country.

It is hard to locate every weapon. It is impossible.

It is not like they are sitting in one location. That would be too easy.

Cause they purposefully hide among civilians who support them... and those that don't as well. There is no possibility to destroy the terrorists without killing the civilians... plus it's just generally hard to locate them.

Well it's not as if Israel has shied away from collateral damage in the past - or even now. With the current state of technology and spy satellites as well as their spy network Iwould be surprised if they did not have a fair idea where Hizbullah have stockpiled their weapons or where they fire rockets from.

Not quite apples to apples. Iraq is much larger, the resistance is scattered and not as well organized as Hizbullah. Nor do they have the kind of weapons that Hizbullah has.

Firstly, the amount of information about Hizbollah gotten from satellites is probably close to zilch. Secondly, the human resources are also quite limited, given that Hizbollah operates a standard non-rigid cell network.

And finally, let's assume for a second they did know where every Hizbollah member was hiding right now... and put a 2000-lb bomb onto each one of their heads, regardless of where they were... tell me - how would you, and the world, react to let's say 50-100'000 civilian casualties?

P.S. Merkava 4 is the most survivable tank on Earth... and the first one to incorporate reactive armor (AFAIK).

The Merk4 isn't the first tank to use reactive armour, that first happened over 40 years ago.

But the Merk4 is the most well protected tank in the world, that part is completely right.

As for the OP question, Isreal has the very best military that the US taxpayer can buy.

I would argue that it's the British Challenger II.

well the merkeva is good and specialized for its location. its not really easy to transport since its too big and heavy, but it works where its meant to work.

well the iranians and such are sneaking people and weapons into iraq just fine. its harder to control if you do not institute the most brutal crackdown and thats not justified at the moment. i'm talking about leveling cities and makeing for mass evacuations of civilians and such, total war. and thats old fashioned ww2 stuff actually. theres no magic bullet that allows for tech to eaesily win this stuff. you attack what you can, but people are clever and the area to be covered is immense. look, they tunneled and captured israeli soldiers on their own turf. its just a matter of time and willpower. its the same annoying thing when people wonder why israel bombs instead of marching troops in all the time, as if magical high tech land troops would prevent more civilian deaths in such blackhawk down type situations. massive shooting gallery is what urban warfare is unless you do it world wa 2 style and just level the city until it looks like those old pictures u've seen in history books.:p
