JERUSALEM, June 21 (Reuters) - Israeli President Shimon Peres, commenting on unrest in Iran, said on Sunday he hoped the current Iranian government would disappear.
"Let the young people raise their voice of freedom for a positive policy. Let the Iranian women, who are a very courageous group of people, to voice their thirst for equality, for freedom," Peres said in English in a speech to visiting Jewish fundraisers.
"I really don't know what will disappear first, their enriched uranium, or their poor government," said Peres, whose post is largely ceremonial. "Hopefully, the poor government will disappear."

This is bad. Tying Israel to the protestors will embolden the theocratic regime. I just hope this doesn't mean more bloodshed. It's obvious Israel wants Ahmadinejad to prevail, they'll have their boogeyman. If Mousavi succeeded, it would be much harder for Israel to justify to the world a strike against Iran.
Reaction from one iranian twitterer:
First reaction from one Irainian tweeter:
@knv: Israelis stabbed us (People of Iran) in the back! We will never forget this...
@knv: we don't need his israel's support. This will give the gov excuse to link our movement with Israel & israelis know this very well
@knv: Isreal needs scapegoats like AhmadiNejad. Netanyahu & AhmadiNejad are 2 sides of same coin
edit: i accidentally cut off part of his speech:
"I really don't know what will disappear first, their enriched uranium, or their poor government," said Peres, whose post is largely ceremonial. "Hopefully, the poor government will disappear."
