Let us hope this is just more sabre rattling.
Yet you have to wonder what other countries would be willing to go along with an Israeli strike given the fact that Iran is not exactly loved by other countries in the region.

Did I say other countries would also turn their heads if Israel were to strike....as in oh my look what Israel done -- they used our airspace.....or oh my we didn`t know that israel used one of our abandoned airfileds...lolol

Let us hope and pray that cooler heads prevail.....

http://news.yahoo.com/israel-army-chief-other-nations-could-strike-iran-121913544.html

JERUSALEM (AP) — Israel's military chief said Thursday that other countries have readied their armed forces for a potential strike against Iran's nuclear sites to keep Tehran from acquiring atomic weapons.

Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz did not specify which nations might be willing to support or take direct action against Iran. Still, his comments were one of the strongest hints yet that Israel may have the backing of other countries to strike the Islamic Republic to prevent it from developing nuclear arms.

"The military force is ready," Gantz said. "Not only our forces, but other forces as well."

"We all hope that there will be no necessity to use this force, but we are absolutely sure of its existence," he told The Associated Press, adding that he was not speaking on behalf of any other nation.

Iran says its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes, and that it does not aim to develop atomic weapons.

Israel, which views a nuclear Iran as an existential threat, has said it will not allow Tehran to acquire a nuclear bomb. It cites Iranian calls for Israel's destruction, Tehran's support for militant groups and its development of missiles capable of striking the Jewish state.

Israel's key ally, the United States, favors diplomacy and economic sanctions and has said military action on Iran's nuclear facilities should only be a last resort if all else fails. U.S. logistical and diplomatic support would likely be crucial to any potential Israeli strike.

Suspect that such statements are to get Iran's attentions.

There is also a difference between non-interferance and positive action.

Both which you identified.

I see a lot of 'bobbing and weaving'.

One day it's some Israeli general saying Iran has no aims on nukes so they are not a threat.

The next day it's "we've got a gang together and are ready to kick azz".

Are they trying to confuse Iran into submission?

Or, is it bobbing and weaving, which is usually followed by you-know-what? (A knock-out punch.)

I think its a whole lot of sabre rattling. Israel may be able to carry out a unilateral strike but it'll have a lot of consequences which the current US administration isn't prepared to take on. The GOP are barking loud as usual but they won't do anything different either--the US is bankrupt.

Saudi has already made such statements as they would "support" the "intention" of Israel going after Iran.

That could mean from not challenging a overflight, to providing support in terms of logistics on the ingress as well as the egress.

I am sure Israel will ensure that they have a CAP with the strike force.

Just like they did when they took out Iraq and Syria threats.

Trust but verify/protect

Somewhat EK and Israeli wishful thinking from beginning to end. And based on bad precedents. One one hand we can say Israel got away with an illegal act of war when they bombed an Iraqi surface reactor circa 1982 and a Syrian surface reactor much later. One Israeli sortie of six planes was all it took, in out and done both times against military paper tigers.

Iran on the other hand is a little harder nut to crack, they are not a paper tiger, their ability to retaliate against Israel is very real, and in general Iran is just to big, too far away, and its nuclear sites are too deeply buried.

But cheer up, Israeli hopes never dim, maybe the tooth fairy and the Easter bunny will attack Iran instead. Everyone knows Israelis neocons are totally irrational, but being mythical, the tooth fairy and the Easter bunny are even more irrational. And even better yet, immune from consequences.

No one is stating that Ian is a paper tiger. At present they look like a paper tiger in terms of retaliation capability against a country that is not land accessible.

Earl was talking about Saudi and I was responding to him stating that if Israel was given the implied permission to overfly Saudi; they will still ensure that the strike force is not unprotected.

However, the capabilities of Iran to actually respond to an air strike force is unknown. They have nothing of equivalent capability to test and verify their air defenses against.

In other news, pigs "could" fly, if they had wings.

Because of public sentiment, none of the govts between Israel & Iraq can afford to be seen as aiding Israel, nor might the officers in their own armed forces allow for it, either.

Just more warmongering threats from Israel.

Your are half right Doppel, Israeli sits on their own self pity pot, waiting in vain for someone to bail them out. As Israel, at the same time, manages to descend even deeper into a la la land that offends all its existing allies.

When did anyone ever bailed Israel out?
UN resolutions - yes - we see how those work

Everyone bails out the troublemakers.

As EK ask, "When did anyone ever bailed Israel out?
UN resolutions - yes - we see how those work"

When the USA blocks all anti-Israeli resolutions in the UN security council, and will Veto a Palestinian state, yes Israel the trouble maker can continue to go deeper into la la land delusions.

Which may end up proving very dangerous to Israel IF AND WHEN, unconditional and one sided support of Israel becomes too damaging to US Foreign policy interests.

In the past 45 years (starting from when the US stood for Israel against the Soviets) US foreign policy interests have been severely harmed.

Looking forward to the next 45 years. Maybe by then the Palestinians will wake up and realize that they are unable to ignore Israel or they will have nothing except the mess that is Gaza.

They already know that the Arab states do not care about them.

Yet regarding Iran the western nations aren't worried about Israeli nuclear capabity. They do not trust Iran though. Seems the world is less favorably disposed to the latter.

Really?
I'm pretty sure all nations are very worried about Israeli nukes.
It's probably the biggest reason the US pours money into Iron Dome etc
Do you come to that conclusion because they are focused right now on another nation not acquiring them?

You really have to be kidding......
Nobody is worried about Israel using what nukes they have.......
In fact before Iran decided it was time to acquire nuclear energy nobody even cared that Israel had nukes as a deterrent.
Which is all they are is a deterrent incase they are needed as a last response in order to survive.
But as is almost always the case you like to turn things backwards,,,,which sometimes works...but in this case is a total fail101!!!

Then you should have no problem backing that up
It's the same as saying the US never had a problem with China or Russia having bombs

Israel was originally expected to sign the 1968 Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and on 12 June 1968 Israel voted in favor of the treaty in the UN General Assembly. But when the invasion of Czechoslovakia in August by the Soviet Union delayed ratification around the world, Israel's internal division and hesitation over the treaty became public.[190] The Johnson administration attempted to use the sale of 50 F-4 Phantoms to pressure Israel to sign the treaty that fall, culminating in a personal letter from Lyndon Johnson to Israeli PM Levi Eshkol. But by November Johnson had backed away from tying the F-4 sale with the NPT after a stalemate in negotiations, and Israel would neither sign nor ratify the treaty.[191] After the series of negotiations, U.S. assistant secretary of defense for international security Paul Warnke was convinced that Israel already possessed nuclear weapons.[192] In 2007 Israel sought an exemption to non-proliferation rules in order to import atomic material legally.[193]
In 1996, the United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution[194] calling for the establishment of a nuclear-weapon-free zone in the region of the Middle East.[195] Arab nations and annual conferences of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) repeatedly have called for application of IAEA safeguards and the creation of a nuclear-free Middle East. Arab nations have accused the United States of practicing a double standard in criticizing Iran's nuclear program while ignoring Israel's possession of nuclear weapons.[196] According to a statement by the Arab League, Arab states will withdraw from the NPT if Israel acknowledges having nuclear weapons but refuses to open its facilities to international inspection and destroy its arsenal.[197]
In a statement to the May 2009 preparatory meeting for the 2010 NPT Review Conference, the U.S. delegation reiterated the longstanding U.S. support for "universal adherence to the NPT", but uncharacteristically named Israel among the four countries that have not done so. An unnamed Israeli official dismissed the suggestion that it would join the NPT and questioned the effectiveness of the treaty.[198] The Washington Times reported that this statement threatened to derail the 40-year-old secret agreement between the U.S. and Israel to shield Israel's nuclear weapons program from international scrutiny,[199] while Avner Cohen, author of Israel and the Bomb, argued that acknowledging its nuclear program would allow Israel to take part constructively in efforts to control nuclear weapons.[200]
The Final Document of the 2010 NPT Review Conference calls for a conference in 2012 to implement a resolution of the 1995 NPT Review Conference that calls for the establishment of a Middle East Zone free of weapons of mass destruction. The United States joined the international consensus for Final Document, but criticized the section on the Middle East resolution for singling out Israel as the only state in the region that is not party to the NPT, while at the same time ignoring Iran's non-compliance with its NPT obligations.[201]
