We do need to remember that these people did not sneak into Israel, they were ivited in to do the work no Israeli would do after using Palestinian slave labor became no longer an option.

Now the world economy has gown down all over, and Israel needs far fewer of these guest workers. But there has to be something hokie about a country that lets a guest worker go from the Status of employed to jailed in a single stroke. The other complication is the children of these guest workers, many of which have lived in Israel all their lives, and are now somewhat too old and unable to adapt to the culture and language of their parents home country.

I can think of quite a few countries in Europe and the Arab world who also imported large numbers of no longer needed guest workers without consulting any refernce librian sources,
but I can't think of an entire country in the world except Israel that is jailing its guest workers for the mere crime of being unemployed in what amounts to a hopefully temporary recession. All in the name of Apartheid stye racial purity that Modern day Israel never had and never will progress to.

These aren't migrant workers, mr. clueless. These are African refugees. Most of em die in other countries. Here they don't, so they try to get to Israel. As they are illegal aliens here, they were usually jailed upon arriving.
However, acknowledging the fact they're refugees and not criminals, our prison system people got some education about how to deal with them as people rather than prisoners.
The new "detention center"'s aim is to give the refugees a place to stay without cramming them in prison. What will be done with them later still needs to be decided.
