the only gripe i have is that the cable box itself is a POS, but this is true for most is not all Cable TV providers
This pisses me off more than it should. SLOW SLOW SLOW. Fuck these things take several minutes to boot, which is always interesting when there's a storm blinking your power just about the time the box finally displays content.

By several do you mean 15-30? Because that's how long it takes mine to do a full boot if you unplug it. And it's a non-dvr model
 
Natural monopolies. They have no competition because the cost to enter the business is prohibitively high. So they can do what they feel like because you have nowhere else to go.

I can see in a few years they'll start lobbying to end terrestrial broadcasts in the name of "freeing up bandwidth". So if you want TV, you'll have to get cable or satellite.
 
I have generally had a good experience with Comcast internet but the cable portion is driving me insane. About 5 weeks ago I stopped getting my local NBC and Fox channels in HD. It just says "This channel will be available shortly."


I get that shit a lot! Digital is a disgrace!
