how much can you overburn a cd? lets say a 650 mb one...how much data can actually fit on that?

What you need is 80 minute CDR's, you can burn 700MB of data on those no problem - 700MB is what a 80min CDR is rated to hold. When you overburn a 650MB/74minute CD you are not guarenteed that it'll work ok. You take a risk when overburning but generally speaking 78 minutes is the limit, other people on the forums will say that they have got more on a 74CDR, It highly depends on the type of media that you are using.

It's worth spending the extra on proper 80min CDR's, The difference is really small.

I've found that the size of the iso file doesn't exactly match the ON CD file size. When i made a iso of Diablo2 the iso file was 790mb but burned back to a 74 min cdr.

Ya, it might not be exact due to the way different file systems do data blocks but an iso image file should be exactly that, a completely uncompressed image of what is on the CD.
