The term "gay" as in "This thread is gay" was banned about 6 months ago. Banned after it was unbanned by the mods after it was banned by the mods about 2 years ago or so.

History of the term "gay" on AT (to describe things that are stupid, or gay):
May 21, 2001: Misuse of the word "gay" will earn you a vacation from AnandTech.
May 21, 2001: AT community backlashes en masse against this policy. Users all agree that the term "gay" should not be censored.
May 22, 2001: Regarding our previous post about use of the word, "gay" Mods retract prior sticky banning the use of the term "gay".
October 2003: Mods again decide to censor the usage of the term "gay."
