Isn't it almost impossibe to NOT get dead/stuck pixels on a 1920x1200 screen?

I've had my monitor for a couple months now and I just discovered I have about nine dead and/or stuck pixels. Most of them look black and I've never noticed them before. They're really small and very hard to see. Not worth even complaining about. I'm a little surprised there are so many but I really can't see them unless I really look hard with a light background.

1920x1200 = ~2.3 million. Even if you count RGB subpixels, it's only about 7 million.

Modern CPU cores have 50-100 million transistors. Modern GPUs have 300+ million transistors. They're simpler than LCD pixel elements, but they're also much smaller, and pretty much every one of them has to work flawlessly and at an extremely high clock rate.

That is a very interesting observation.

The problem of having a non-perfect piece of silicon isn't so much a matter of transistor count - it is one of size. The #1 reason for a non-working chip is physical contamination (dust particles etc.) - and the likelihood of having one is proportional to the physical size of the chip.

Seen in that way, nine defects on such huge surface like a 24" LCD panel is a yield any processor maker can only dream of ...

I don't have any dead pixels on mine. At any rate I don't t think I would notice if I did.

What's the best way to check for dead pixels? I haven't noticed any on my 2407, but I'd be curious to know if there is. OTOH, if I'm happy now, why look for them and drive myself crazy by knowing there are some?!

Ignorance is bliss, but in case you want to find out...

I have two 1680x1050 LCDs and neither have dead (sub)pixels or stuck (sub)pixels.
