Isn't it funny that when you're a kid you have no real taste in music yet you try so hard to 'like' some certain bands just to feel older? Man I totally remember doing that but not understanding how my older sisters could like a particular band etc.

I felt pressured to have a musical preference, tho I never really cared until I got older. I was just extremely tolerant of all music. There were some that I liked upon hearing but none that I really hated unlike some people who absolutely despise certain types/genres.

I used to give music a test of whether or not it would make me look cool for liking it or not. I would stress endlessly over this, and the top tier of my music was that which made it to my car. If music made it to my car I deemed it cool. Looking back it seems stupid because I basically like a little bit of everything and a lot of stuff that did end up in the car ended up being really crappy.

the funniest thing about being a kid is when the teacher asks a question and everyone raises their arms in the air and holding it with their other arm like they are in pain/stretching it and going "ooh ooh" to get the teacher's attention.

I didn't care for music as a kid and don't much care for most of it now. Not much changed for me.

Yeah, I remember listening to alternative and rap according to the people I hung out with when in actuality I liked both. I pretty much listen to anything now.

Funny you mention this. When i was younger, I typically picked up listening to the music that my brother was into at the time. (He had great sources for DLing back in the early 90's). While those tastes have stuck with me over time, I have acquired new tastes, which he often picks up from me now (most new music he comes across comes from yours truly :p). This is most likely because of my *cough* "access" these days :p Funny how times change....

My older sister liked Motley Crue  :)

But when I won a Guns N Roses: Appetite for Destruction tape by getting the high score at the local arcade in King of Boxers, she stole it from me :(

Oddly enough, when I was 9, I bought Appetite for Destruction when it came out on cassette.

Now at the age of almost 29, it's a disk that is still in my car CD changer. I still have my original "Black Album" CD from Metallica from 1991 that sees regular play time too.

Why is the OP trying to imply he's not a kid?
Does he enjoy getting bashed?

Anyway, I never did that. I'm 27 now and still dont try to like music.
I either do or I dont. Usually dont, but I certainly dont think it makes me more or less mature.

I listened to what I liked. In 1977 I was 5 and had Styx, Boston, Eagles, ELO, Rush, and Van Halen albums.
