Have they released a time table? Looks to me like they are using the same crop 18 meg chip for some time now. Any news on FF or crop sensor improvemnts anytime soon?

There are rumours circulating that the Canon EOS 7D MK II might be announced soon. It will be interesting to see what sensor chip it has on that beast if and when more information comes out.

Dunno but 500 nm isn't cutting it anymore in terms of dynamic range. Still good image quality but come on, they've been on that node for like a decade now.

There are rumors that they are upgrading the sensor in the upcoming 70D to a 21 mp sensor. Apparently they were planning on going with the same old 18 mp sensor in it too but may have changed their minds. We'll see soon as I believe the 70D will be announced this month or next.

Nikon bodies are so good these days, it has to be tempting even to Canon
lens fanboys.

Megapixels can differ even when node size stays the same. If they are just jacking up megapixels and staying on 500nm node size, that isn't going to help much. If they are jacking up both, good for them. http://www.chipworks.com/blog/techn...ll-frame-dslr-cameras-canon-stays-the-course/

I still like the 5DIII over the d800. Better AF, silent shutter, full raw 1080p and much more manageable file sizes. That said if it had an 24 MP EXMOR sensor, RF flash commander and 802.11ac than I would not complain at all.

If you're a photographer geek, Magic Lantern makes Canon very attractive, even with below average dynamic range performance.
