Isn't Aluminum Bad for Cooking Pots and Pans ?

They are ok for baking or cooking over a flame, but I think if you used an unsurfaced pot on a stove it would scortch pretty quickly. Aluminum pots and pans are common place in camping equipment.

No studies have proven that aluminum causes alzheimers. There have just been correlations between levels of aluminum in the brain and incidents of alzheimers. Unless something new came out that I'm not aware of.

Though, I know a few people who refuse to use antiperspirant because of it. I guess if you had people in your family that's suffered from it, it's enough to give you the fear.

Is that info legit ? Has studies been done to prove that Aluminum gives Alzheimers ?

A friend of mine did a science project on the correlation between Alzheimers and the use of spray deodorants (which use aluminum).

Aluminum is bad for pots and pans because it can react with acids in foods, like tomato sauce. Your best bet is to use glass, stainless steel, or teflon coated pans for everything. Just make sure it's non-reactive.

Alluminum pots and pans are cheap, because the material is cheap, and cheap to work.

Alluminum is an okay material to cook with. (I was a cook for over 3 years, I used it quite often.)
I do not recomend it though. Not for any health reasons, although they may exist, but because it is very picky. Make sure you wash it out rather quickly after using it. If you let it sit, and especially if you let it soak, it corrodes. When alluminum corrodes, it pits. When it pits, it gets harder to clean.

I prefer glass, tempered of course, and cast iron.

I would recomend staying away from teflon. Not only does it gradualy release teflon into your food, it is just damn picky about the utensils you can use with them. I can not stand plastic spatulas and utensils.

But this is my experience with it.

Enjoy! 😉

I love Teflon, it's like the next best thing since Sliced Bread and computers 🙂

I cook eggs without any utensils 🙂

Aluminium is ok as long as you dont use and harder metal utensils in it because aluminium is so soft it will scratch off the surface of the pan, this of course limits you too plastic and wooden utensils....unless you like munching aluminium anyway

Bleh.

Glass and stainless steel for me. 😀

I don't mind the aluminum cladding on the bottom of pots to help distribute the heat, but copper's better for that anyway. LoL

I dislike teflon too especially since it scrapes off.

Don't fumes from teflon coated stuff kill dogs and cats if you leave them over a flame with nothing cooking in them?
