I have a TDK Mojo 620 mp3 player. I use two rechargeable batteries for it but I want to get a car adapter. How come on the back of the player it says DC IN: 4.5V (700mA). Isn't that a bit high?
Multiply volts by amps and get wattage. You'll see that it really isn't all that high. I have a CD player with that exact same rating on the AC adapter. Devices like that are optimized for battery efficiency. Looking at the CD-ROM drive in my computer, I see that it's rated at 1 amp on 5V and .8 on 12V, which is considerably more power. Your mp3 player will be just fine.
