Isn?t it time AnandTech reviewed the GeForce2 MX200?

In 1999, AnandTech gave us full reviews of the TNT2 range upon each new release, from the original TNT2 in April, to the Ultra a month later, and finally the Pro and entry-level M64 in October (I?ve done my homework).

History now repeats itself with the GeForce2 line, from the original GTS, to the Ultra, then the Pro and entry-level MX, all of which AnandTech have reviewed.

But what of the new entry-level GeForce2, the MX200? It?s been out months, and still no review.

OK, some of you may have picked a flaw in my argument. NVIDIA also released an ultra-budget TNT2, the Vanta, which AnandTech never touched, so I guess not reviewing the MX200 is par for the course. But we?d like to see AnandTech get even better, wouldn?t we?

GeForce2 MX200/400 was previewed by Anandtech, I believe.

In any case, it's so slow compared to a slightly more expensive GeForce2 Pro and Kyro II.. If you're buying a new PC or even just a videocard upgrade, why would you buy a GeForce2 MX?..

GeForce2 Pro are $140 at NewEgg.com, which is a great price.

the 400 review was done a while ago, and i think the 200 is either the same as the original mx or slower.

if i remember right the geforce2mx200 is supposed to be comparable to the tnt2 ultra (ouch that sucks)

edit, i mean comparable in performance, not technology 🙂

GF2MX200 = GF2MX minus half of the memory bandwith. Performance-wise it's mostly slower than TnT2 Ultra and comparable with TnT2 Pro...

Reason for wanting review of GeForce2 MX200:
You know how you guys with the GeForce2 GTSes and above get to look down at the performance levels of those of us with MXes in benchmarks? Well, wouldn?t it be nice if those of us with GeForce2 MX/400s could look down at the MX200s? I mean, they?re all current cards, it?s not like I?m asking for the inclusion of TNT2 Ultra benchmarks, for goodness sake. (Note that I am not belittling the performance of the latter; it is reputed to be faster, although I have yet to see an MX200 review anywhere, let alone a comparison with a TNT2, even an M64, which I still find widely available.)

i know a lot of people that want a basic system to surf the net, use word that aren't interesting in 3d apps, or games so i quite often recommend a tntm64, cheap and relaible, so it would have been nice to see how the mx200 preforms etc. 🙂
