Islam, bad religion?

I honestly believe it is just like all others. Supposedly they have over a billion followers, mostly peaceful. Only a small percentage of radicals that take it to a very extreme interpretation. It's these radicals that need to stop brainwashing more youth.

Seems a bit more inclined to kill people that christianity these days. In that way I'd say christianity is preferable. I think they're all bad in their own unique ways though.
 
The simple fact that the word "jihad" doesn't mean what most people think it means, including misguided zealots, is enough to to answer your own question.
 
I don't think Bad Religion has billions of followers, but I guess they're pretty popular for a punk rock band
 
Islam is NOT BAD, infact the vast majority of the followers and nice and peaceful people (despite what Fox News says). They just have a very loud and violent section that tends to get all of the attention by performing incredibly inaccurate versions of philosophies established in the Quran.

Honestly, I grew up Catholic, and the members of the mosque down the street seemed more generous and helpful than members of our own church.

It's not much different than the Westboro Church. Every religion is going to have extremist nutjobs. The Islam nutjobs just happen to also be armed.
 
All religions at one point or another had a period where "extremists" would carry out killings. They are just the "bad" religion of this current time. Way back when, you could have said it was Christians.

Very true. Any religion that feels threatened seems to get that way at some point.

Yeah, the Christians were smarter. When they set off bombs to kill anyone who wasn't them they didn't tie the bombs to themselves. They just killed the infidels and stayed alive to set off more bombs and kill more infidels.

I'd actually score that one for the Islam bombers. Sure, they're murdering thugs, but at least they have courage in their convictions. They truly do believe in the fairy tales that say they'll go to see Allah. The Christians have been murdering thugs for longer, but they were never in a big hurry to meet god themselves. Maybe if they were going to get 72 virgins they would have worn the bombs rather than setting them and running away.
 
Islam has not had its Reformation. At this moment in history I think Islam is clearly worse than other religions, in that no small percentage of its adherents support things like acts of terrorism intended to punish "heretics," female genital mutilation, honor killings, and the wholesale repression and maltreatment of females. (I would argue, in fact, that Muslim women are the largest group of systematically maltreated human beings on the planet.) I am not saying those voices constitute the majority of Muslims - clearly they do not - but they represent a meaningful percentage, and radical clerics have a place of power in the mainstream day-to-day operation of the faith (i.e., they are not marginal voices akin to the Westboro Baptist Church). There is no other faith, in this day and age, (and probably no nation, culture or other entity) that represents the kind of ongoing threat to peace, normalcy and modernity that Islam represents.

Agree with Don Vito. Islam is worse than any other religion because it tells its followers to take up the sword for things as simple as dissing Mahammed in a newspaper. Let alone other things like "illegal works, terrorists, criminal groups, rebels, apostates, and leaders or states who oppress Muslims.[135][136]" (this is from the Jihad definition). So it's up to interpretation of the reader. For example, if a muslim *thinks* or *declares in his head* that a person or organization is a criminal of islam, then they can take up the sword against them. This is nuts because different things offend different people, hence anyone can be an infidel for any crazy reason they concoct. Hell, they probably would want to kill me for this post. lol

Summary: Anyone who openly believes in the Koran should be segregated from the general populace because there's no way to control their interpretation of what is offensive, and what consequently constitutes a legit military jihad. Hell, even segregating them would make them want to kill us even more because now it will fall under the "oppression of Muslim" clause. It's a lose lose situation, even if society accepts them they will still kill due to subjectivity of jihad. Fuck that.

But he would have to shit in the woods if he followed what is according to his religion "God's command" not to eat from the tree of knowledge, considering knowledge gives us the ability to devise indoor plumbing.

Although he wouldn't be so lucky to be able to shit in the woods if he got AIDS and died because his imaginary sky daddy told him that contraception is evil.

It is obviously the worst or the major religions by any meaningful measure. It is responsible for creating almost all of the religiously motivated of the world's terrorists, for example. It also, unlike most religions, condones violence against those who refuse to follow it. It demonstrably breeds a kind of violent fanaticism that other religions don't. Countering these absolutes with lazy references to other religions in a bygone age accomplish little.
