The bubonic plague isn't a threat to modern medicine at all. It was only a major issue at the time because antibiotics didn't exist. This is just more theater to scare people who don't know better. As a biological weapon it's useless.

There is still a mortality threat even with modern antibiotics, but compared to other strains, the bubonic plague is a rather poor choice for a WMD. What would be scary though is ISIS using Ebola as a weapon. Thankfully the US and the CDC are pretty smart about tracking these types of things down though.

Bioterrorism is certainly a valid concern but I think the real issue is that the ISIS is actually thinking about attacking the West with Terrorism and that we can not just let the ISIS exist in the Near East and think that somehow that they are not going to start blowing up shit in other countries.

No one cared or heard about ISIS just a few weeks ago. We decide to bomb them, so now they are all important and dangerous and shit. What a crock. Bioterror. Gimme a break.

Although if real...

I don't get the point if the do decide to do something truly horrific in terms of terrorism here. Blowing up a bomb is one thing, but bioterrorism would get the whole US in red alert panic mode. For what? What is the point. They kill a few people, scare a lot of people, and have hell rained down on them because of it. All terrorism here would do is cause brutal death for them and a lot of other people in the region. Why would they want that?

I'm assuming they are rational human beings though which they may not be.

How could anyone think ISIS has the ability to handle something lethal like Ebola or small pox? Without killing themselves first?
Personally I'm more concerned about China not cleaning up its farms and the constant bird flu's coming from China.
From what I understand its easy as keep your cows, chickens and pigs in separate area's.

Yes of course! ISIS the most technologically advanced terror group in the world. They now have scientists cooking up biological weapons! Thankfully we have a government willing to kill as many civilians as possible to stop these terror filled terrorists.

Reminds me of this:

I was thinking the exact same, it's like threatening with smallbox or tetanus - something that 99% of people inoculated for.

I bet they have mobile chemical weapons labs that are disguised to look like junky old trucks? Oh wait that one has already been used....

Um no 99% of humans on Earth are not inoculated against smallpox. Hence why the possibly use of smallpox as a biological weapon is considered so frightening.
