I want to upgrade my 56 connection to ISDN (I live in Europe-no cable-no DSL you lucky Americans :). So which type of ISDN termial Adapter is best? Does the term winmodem excist in ISDN TA? If yes are the PCI ones winmodems or not? And finally which one is the best ans easy to find (the shop must be able to ship international)

Thanx

Well.. if you get an external one that plugs into your serial port, it will surely not be a winmodem. I have no idea whether or not isdn-winmodems exist or not, your best bet is probably to check out some ISDN linux support sites and see what modems are listed as working in linux as they will not be winmodems.

If you get external USB = software :(
Im currently using a Eicon Diva Pro 2 PCI hardware ISDN TA.
You often see these on @bay. Either that or you could go with an Asuscom PCI card which is very popular amongst the brit online gaming fraternity.
Either the Eicon/Asuscom will do you proud, avoid USB.

Thanx for the replies

rockhard what do you mean that software for usb = :( And where can I find the asus one?

Also I primarily want it for online gaming so a godd ping will be the best thing.

I'll go check the linux sites now :)

Click Here - should take you to Insights results for the Asuscom - You want the one at £24.99 :)
Cant go wrong for £24 :)
Im pretty sure that they have Linux drivers for it too - best check Asuscom's site for driver availabilty first, just to be sure.
Have a quick look around @bay.co.uk - You often see them offered there for very little money.

Oh yeah, USB = software - its just that when i watch my system hang for like a second when my V90 software modem dials out, makes me want to avoid all software solutions :(
But with ISDN TA's your going to have to spend silly money for a Hardware solution like the Eicon (£150 ish!). The Asus is the best of the software implementations i have seen up till now.
