Hello,

I have a windows XP (With service pack 1) and it has been working fine for for the last couple of days...YEah! None of those SP1 horror stories for me! but when I turn on my computer this morning right before the login screen would come up, I get: "Isass.exe - System Error. An invalid parameter was passed to a service or function."

If I click OK, my computer reboots and this creates a horrible cycle...hmmm error...ok...reboot..maybe it will wor...no there's the error again...OK...reboot maybe it wil wor..no there's the error.

The same process for all of the advanced booting options. No safe mode, no last known good, nadda.

I used the winXP CD to start the automated recovery, but apparently this has changed from the Win2000 recovery that I have used before. It starts working, then reboots the computer. On startup I get the windows install screen just like I'm doing a fresh install...I thought "OK..they changed it a little..I'm OK with that so long as it works" Then *BAM* Isass.exe - eyetem error. An invalid parameter was passes to a service or function.

now instead of almost getting to windows and getting the error, I am get "restarting installation," the installation screen then the error.

Any Ideas?

Thanks

Hmmm....lsass is the Local Security Authentication Sub-System...very curious that it's failing when booting to a recovery scenario. I think you're going to have to reinstall the OS. :(

Thats what I'm thinking.

Now the major question is...if I have to re-install anyway...what size of new hard drive should I install it to? ::: going to check out the "Hot deals" forum :::

Guess what...IT'S BACK!

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Last time I had to re-install to get my files. Are there any ideas what causes this? I've had no crashes or new software installed (and that includes XP SP1 for over two weeks now. Suddenly last night..BAM! I hate Windows XP now. I'll probably go back to windows 2000...at least I could log in.
