This is a really good read, and a window into the FYGM libertarian thought process. Epstein basically thinks he's an expert on par with epidemiologists based on some legal work he did with AIDS back in the day. He thinks the scientists are elitists who've never had to defend their facts and data in a court of law, and therefore deserve to be cross examined. Of course, every premise he used to build his coronavirus theory just happens to be false and based on feelings, or "general equilibrium theory".

Yeah, saw this before and was going to write much the same (but then noticed it was already a thread).

Reading it made me think he's a familiar 'type' - the upper class (usually white) guy who imagines having the right class markers (and having elite qualifications in one particular subject is an aspect of that, a badge of generic transferable elite status - especially if it's not a science subject) means he _must_ be an instant expert on every subject. Think Tanks and the media seem to be full of that sort.

so a law professor thinks he's an epidemiologist, I'd say he's the last person to take advice from on this outbreak.
