ISA to PCI transition

transition was still going on when i bought my tbird 750 with via kt133 chipset. bought in summer 2000.
the mobo has pci slots, and only one isa slot. i think after that its no more isa

i dont think the same will happen with pci-express. it won't take 7 years for total transition

It wasn't until around 1999/2000'ish that ISA was totally pushed out of PCs. I remember when I built my PIII a few ISA slots were still common on many motherboards.

In 2000 I had a tough time finding new tier 1 brand PCs with ISA slots though ... I needed some for use with old scientific equipment in the place I worked at. I did find in 2000 though that Dell had a model of Optiplex that could still be ordered with ISA ...

I'm probably going off on a tangent now ...
