ISA modem with win2k

I have two compaq ISA modems and both computers have been upgraded to win2k. The computer detects the modem, but disables it with an error message saying that the firmware did not request the resources. any idea why it does it or if its fixable?
Thanks

Then W2K should be seeing it alright. You should set your BIOS to "PnP OS - No" to let BIOS map all the devices onto suitable resources. Windows will still do PnP to find stuff then, but the system preparation is then up to BIOS (which does a much better job at it, usually).

Also, if you did any manual IRQ assignments or similar nonsense, put that back to Auto so that BIOS and Windows can shuffle resources around to fit that ISA card in as well.

This device is disabled because the firmware of the device did not give it the required resources. (Code 29)

this is the exact message its giving me.
Thanks for the help so far, can't find in the BIOS where it says pnp os...
