I know a guy who is convinced that Black Label is good, but I don't like it myself. Sleeman Clear is on that list - it's not really a bad beer, it's just light - ok on some occasions.

Here's my snobbish side coming out....

Guinness is a pretty shitty stout. It's just got a billion dollar marketing campaign behind it. It's not even the best stout in Ireland. There's dozens of other craft stouts I'd drink over Guinness. Their Extra Stout is decent. But the normal stuff is pretty boring for the category.

It ain't bad, when done right.

The problem is, 90% of the bars out there don't have it, or do it right. the nitro-pour helps, but if they do not get a good batch (shipped right) you still get a bitter brew.

I have had it where it has tasted light and creamy, and other times when ittastes like asphalt (in a frosted glass to boot).

YMMV.

I certainly drink beers from that list...but I agree they all suck. My cheap beer of choice is PBR...otherwise something quality.

I've only ever even tried 3 or 4 of the beers on that list. And good old number one was pretty hilarious in my youth! I mean the bottle is just so big and the beer tastes just so fucking bad, but it costs less than water!

i would put stouts/porters as the best beers. though i would never condemn a whole class of beers, if anything should be considered the worst id say it should be lagers or pilsners... but even then there are some gems.

Wow, lots of beer hate in this thread.

The beers on that list don't taste good for a reason: They're dirt cheap. Why are they dirt cheap? Because they use low-grade ingredients and they're produced for mass-consumption. Good flavor is not the main objective with these beers, sales are.

As for the beer snobbery: There are some extraordinarily annoying beer snobs, but in my experience,the majority of microbrew drinkers are just average Joes looking for a good and/or different brew. I myself enjoy and appreciate a good microbrew from time to time, but if my friends are getting together and they're drinking PBR or Coors, I'm not going to bitch and moan.

Also, taste is subjective. I might think Miller Lite tastes like shit water, whereas you might think it's fine. Whatever, you're entitled to your opinion. You drink what you want and I'll drink what I want.

thats because that stuff tastes like water. its not a crappy beer because it tastes bad...its bad because it has basically zero flavor.

bud light has more flavor...but its a bad flavor. id take a much ultra over most shitty beers just because theres not much to object to

meh, to each his own. i wont drink hoppy beers because they taste like chlorine or something. very mild hops are ok...but where its very noticeable i find it objectionable.

ill drink stouts and porters all day if theyre decent brews. a local micro makes one hell of an oatmeal porter
