Why would I care if it was? As far as I know, I couldn't buy E85 gas even if I wanted to.

You can actually buy it, but there are very limited distributors... The closest one to me is 100 miles away.

No - but the closest distribution place is three states away..so it wouldn't really matter.

The only place in Northern California using the stuff is apparently Lawrence-Livermore National Labs, and they don't sell it to the public.

That's great, they give a vehicle the ability to use an alternate fuel source but have no place to purchase the alternate fuel.

I just found out that E85 actually decreases fuel economy (although you're still using less gasoline overall). That sucks.

Yeah E85 is by no means a stable replacement for traditional gasoline. Personally I'd use Bio-Diesel if I had a diesel car.

I don't think it is offered in my area, but it doesn't matter since I drive a 1997 Ford Taurus GL (which according to the list is not E85 compatible).

Edit: After checking the VIN # to see if it was E85, it came up with a no there too.

Huh, there's bunch of them in the state here. Two right in town. Not that it matters, since I doubt any of my cars are compatible.

Ethanol contains less energy per unit than gasoline.
