My wife is working on an NT to 2K3 migration for a government network and she's been working lots of hours lately. During the week we drive in to work together at 5AM. I get off at 2PM but she usually works until 9PM.

Yesterday she went into work at 3PM. It's now almost 12:30 on Saturday and she STILL ISN'T HOME! She just called me and said she'd be home soon. So, now it's a lovely Saturday - perfect for a nice drive with the little lady - and she'll be crashed out until tonight.

The only positive thing about it is she's getting paid EWW for the extra hours and, unbeknownst to her current employer, she has already accepted a new job making mucho $$$ that she'll be starting as soon as this migration is finished.

At first I was OK with it, but lately I just want to spend some time with my wife! It's getting cool out and it's the perfect time to start snuggling up together on the couch.

Anybody out there that can relate at all?

Jesus, 3:00 PM on Friday to 1:00 PM on Saturday? Almost 22 hours?? Christ.

No, sorry, I can't relate.

Well, I am suspicious of all of those 300lb computer nerds she works with.

Wow, that sucks. I'm not sure I'd ever believe someone "worked" all night though. < ------ Also obligatory. Sorry.

lol....maybe one of them "understands" her better :p

Let me tell you about these people. My wife calls me the other day and says "Joe" has a question and she puts him on the phone. He asks me if I know where the NAV light control is on the 737-800 panel on Flight Simulator X.

I have nothing to worry about.

My wife is on maternity leave right now, but she's close to going crazy I think. She's used to working a full 40 hours plus whatever overtime she can snag, which is usually another 15-20 hours a week sometimes. I work night shifts myself, so we already don't see each other a whole lot during the week, but once she goes back to work in the spring we'll figure out how to schedule it all better.

next time he calls you, he's gonna ask if you know where her g-spot is :p

mention to her that you miss hanging out with her, but a working, successful woman is always sexy

She knows I miss hanging out with her and I agree - it's damn sexy! I just want her to get done with this project so I can see more of her and not hear about WINS this and DNS that. LOL!

my SO is a 2nd year university lecturer. she teaches 2 courses - exercise physiology and advanced biomechanics.

gets home, passes out from exhaustion / stress and when she wakes up she works until she goes to bed.

non-stop workaholic, no end in sight.

Bah.. I wish forums showed location based on IP address (changing my profile is too far to go for a parody). My IP is in DC according to those lookup sites. I mapped it and used the resulting address to find a coffee shop nearby. I also wish I had left the "My views do not reflect the views of the federal government" in my signature (I really was covering my a$$ but I realized it didn't matter).

Btw, those DOI guys in Washington never blocked Anandtech like they blocked pretty much every other forum on the web. I'm thinking someone there is a member :p.

I would say my wife is borderline (or perhaps i am defining it wrong).

while she does not work over 40 hours much anymore she can not stay home. she was off for a month and a half due to having my son. she was given 3 months off (could have had 6) but was board with staying home. so as soon as she was medically cleared she went back to work.

she used to work as a teacher. but that was stressing her out a lot. we are able to stay home and not have to work and i told her to quit. stay home and be a house mother. She tried for 3 months and was going insane. so she went back to work (not in the school at a shipping warehouse. which she makes more then she did teaching heh).
