With the recent loosening of the term "bullying" to be anybody being mean to you in any way, you might want to rethink that question. Atheists "bully" theists all the time.

What! Never been told YOU are GOING to HELL for NOT embracing (place what ever what ever you want here but it is usually Christian) belief system we(TRUE believers in the TRUE faith) are bending your ear with.

I prefer to consider myself agnostic, because I don't know. More importantly I don't care. I refuse to label myself atheist, because I see atheists as people who go about preaching the Gospel of No God.

Just my take on it.

There are some who certainly do that. But I'm also willing to bet you're interacted with far more atheists on the internet than in person, and way more people are dicks on the internet than in person. Also, much like religious people, most atheists don't much talk about it. You end up hearing mostly from the vocal minority.

The same goes for all religions. For every Falwell there are a million people who quietly observe their beliefs and don't push them on anyone.

So theists being assholes is evidence that atheists are not?

Too many lead paint chip snacks as a child, eh?

I think a lot of people believe Christians hate homosexuals, which is just not the case for real Christianity.

What you claim "real Christianity" is becomes rather irrelevant when a sizable portion of it's purported followers do indeed act as if they hate homosexuals. I doubt homosexuals who are being actively discriminated against by vocal christian majorities care much whether they are real Christians or not. They are what they are.

I would say a lot of the problem comes from Christians who have decided that their religion's definition of marriage is the same one which the US government should adhere to or that the US government's definition of marriage was originally intended to be their religion's definition. And then as the US government adapts what it will recognize as marriage, those same people get offended and feel it is attacking their religion. This makes them lash out at the people they blame, those who are simply looking for equality. What these groups of religious people fail to realize or accept is that the government's definition of marriage is in no way linked to their religion and that just because the government adapts with the changing world their religion's definition is not required to change.

Those of us fighting for marriage equality don't give a shit what someone's religion wants to define marriage as. We care about the government recognizing its citizens equal rights and privileges as guaranteed by the 14th Amendment.

Yes, but I'm a True Scotsman...

What does an athesist believe? Or a Christian? Or a Muslim? Or a Democrat? Or a Republican?

Convenient labels, but hardly conclusive descriptions of the near infinite variety of viewpoints within each group. There are a lot of Christians who are OK with gay marriage. Does that mean that one of those segments is a Christian and the other is not?

Methinks though dost protest too much.

Physician, heal thyself.

Verily, thou art not a worldly man yet it neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg to say so. Methinks thou should hasten to the Handle of the Floridian Pan so as to bear witness to true excessive protest.

When thou dost discover a tiny manchild, dutifully attending a venue for hours in heat and sun which approaches that of Arabia, and forced to bear a banner of damnation and hate, do beg his pardon to inquire as to the nature of his faith. I'd wager all the madeira in Portugal that his answer would not be 'atheist.'

LMAO, OK you win. That might be one of the best responses this forum has ever seen.

Wow. Thanks Bober.

I thought it a little sloppy and none too polished, having typed it in a hurry as people were waiting on me (and complaining). I hit Submit and sailed out the door, later wishing I had just logged instead. Expected to see something akin to our usual banter here waiting for me instead of that response.

I'm impressed that with as much as you and I disagree, you added compliment to concession in your reply. Not trying to condescend you here or anything, I'm genuinely impressed and appreciative. I don't see that kind of form around here often.

Well played, sir.
