In the last 12 months I have installed plumbing & heating system for a winery, and a heatpump system for a tapa bar.

It could be that wine bars is the next fad because coffee house is saturated.

Wine bars rock. Much more interesting than regular bars.

<---- is a rural girl living in a yuppie town, currently a tad tipsy from cab and port

No, we're a dry county with a lot of people who think that those who consume alcohol will go to Hell.

are these a texas / west coast kind of thing?

I've never even heard of a wine bar before this thread. sounds pretty dumb. my town does have a crapload of normal, real-people bars, though.

Don't know crap about a wine bar (and don't particularly care for wine) but if it's private and allows smoking then it will be popular here. Like everybody's not already going to neighboring towns anyway now.

'Biggish' town east of Houston here has outlawed smoking. :) :(

Do people go to wine bars to get drunk or just to hang out and drink a few glasses of wine? If its the latter, I could see that becoming very popular.

Theres one by me. I personally can't stand the taste of any types of wine. And yes, I've tried dozens of wines because I used to work in a restaurant and had to do tastings to make recommendations.
