is yahoo the AOL of search engines?

I don't really know anyone that uses the search engine feature of yahoo. Their email accounts suck, small storage limits, and more spam than a hillbilly family could eat in a year. Anyone else agree that the only people who use yahoo are either internet noobs, or complete idiots?

I use Yahoo email for email lists..can't remember the last time I've searched with it, though.

I use a Yahoo! Email account as my primary email address, and don't have a problem with Spam at all. Maybe one or two a week if THAT. (Have had this account for at least 4 years now.) And I signed up a while ago, so my storage limit is 6 megs, where it's only 4 now.

I have had the yahoo email account for 4 years. I got it when they offered 6 MB of storage. Superb, no complaints at all. I use Yahoo, when i want a listing of similar sites.

Do you still have the POP3?

No...it owns places like Excite and Hotmail for space, at least. I don't do much searching with it, but I do from time to time...and it's my homepage on a couple 'puters.

Yahoo uses the google engine. so no

iirc they stopped using it. I do remember when Yahoo used Google....it even prominently displayed the Google logo when you searched for stuff on Yahoo....now it doesn't even mention Google anywhere on Yahoo

I create 1 email account to use for all my online orderings.
It used to be a Hotmail account. I ended up getting 30 or 40 spam emails a day.
Now I use Yahoo for tracking my online purchases.
The only "spam" I get is from the people I've bought things from, and maybe 2-3 a day about my septic tank. (wtf???)

Yahoo used to be a great search engine when they were actually a catalogue of internet sites. You had to register your site with them, with a small biography of it. For some reason, that format seems to have disappeared. Shame too, because it was quite a large database, and well organized.

No... Yahoo uses the google search engine now, and some people still prefer to use the directory structure of Yahoo. And the email and storage limits are free, what do you expect? Yahoo Briefcase is the best free storage space out there i think.

MeanMeosh is right....Yahoo used the Google search engine but switched to inktomi last year/this year. (The reason why Google is no longer displayed when you search on yahoo):
