Question Is XPG 8200 Pro compliant with nvme 1.3?

Testing the drive trying to install esxi 6.7u3 results in the ssd being indetectable... changing the nvme driver to a one 1.2 based works without problems.

The same occur with a crucial p1, but problem was solved with a frimware upgrade.

Theres no reposrted firmware updates for 8200 Pro

Silicon Motion's firmware usually isn't 100% bug-free, but I think it's more likely a problem with VMWare's driver. They are probably relying on some behavior that's either an optional feature, or not defined by the NVMe spec.

NVMe 1.3 and 1.4 don't add any features that are important to consumer drives like the SX8200 Pro. There's no good reason for VMWare to need separate NVMe drivers for different versions of the spec.

The use of optional features was my initial thinkings... vmware driver check for certain 1.3 feature and when the check fails it ignores the drive. Using the driver included in 6.7 (without u*) works because it relys on 1.2 features

The thing is that esxi 6.7u1 states in his changelog:
- ESXi 6.7 Update 1 adds support for Namespace Globally Unique Identifier (NGUID) in the NVMe driver.

If i recall correctly (i can be totally wrong, sorry in advanced if its the case) nvme 1.3 introduce changes in the namespaces, making the ability to obtain a list mandatory (and maybe this feature is working in the drive and thats why they announce it as an nvme 1.3 drive) but nvme 1.3 spec also introduce som changes incompatible with previos revisions of the spec regarding NGUID/Namespaces

So... theres an easy way to test if a drive is fully 1.3 compliant? which features are present or lacking?
